“I knew the monster dogs and I loved them, and I hope that, in my own way, I have done a good job of telling their story. I mean to.”
Lives of the Monster Dogs is a great read, although it really requires a suspension of belief: an army of dog soldiers in modern day New York City. They are highly intelligent, surgically altered with prosthetic hands and mechanical voice boxes. They walk upright, dress in Prussian-era long coats, top hats and tails and military coats, and they are very, very wealthy. I’ve heard a film adaptation is on the way. Should be interesting.
There are no less than 3 Cormac McCarthy film projects on the go at the moment. Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones are filming an adaptation of McCarthy’s play “The Sunset Limited”; James Franco is working on a film based on McCarthy’s 1974 novel “Child of God”; and Ridley Scott is directing Michael Fassbender in McCarthy’s original script “The Counselor”. Here’s a description of the script from someone inside:
“This script made me want to commit suicide. It was so bleak, it made me want to overdose on heroin while skydiving into an avalanche of naked women.”
Sounds like Cormac. Can’t wait!
I remember being in New York City in 1986 driving in a friend’s car and this song came on the radio - we were freaking out, saying “who is this?” I bought the 12 inch that day, it came with two buttons and some stickers. Sadly I never saw them in concert.
Psyched to see Mr. Elvis Costello for the first time ever tonight!
Bobby Fuller Four - Misirlou
Love Dick Dale, but Fuller’s 1965 version is punked out!
